It’s hard to tell the exact number of cats around the globe. However, recent statistics show that it can be anywhere from 200 million to over 600 million, including housecats, strays, and feral cats.
The United States has the highest population of cats in the world, reaching a staggering number of 75 million cats. 37 million US households have cats, with an average of 2.2 cats per household.
Cats in the States outnumber dogs my almost 4 million. Most countries in Western Europe, as well as the Middle East and parts of Africa prefer cats over dogs, while Ireland, Portugal, Spain, and most of Asia are primarily dog countries.
Russia has the largest number of cats in Europe. Some of these cats serve their country by living in the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg. Currently, there are 65 cats living here, and three people are taking care of their needs.
