Your cat would have to ingest a LOT of baking soda for it to harm them. It is safe to use baking soda around the house; however, you should take some precautions.
Baking soda isn’t necessarily toxic, but ingesting more than a small amount can be dangerous. Generally, your pet should not consume more than 2-4 teaspoons of baking soda per every 10 kilograms of body weight.
If too much baking soda is eaten, it causes stomach upset and symptoms like gas, vomiting, and diarrhea. Excessive thirst and drinking are other symptoms of too much sodium intake.
