5 Explanations Why Is Your Cat Drinking A Lot Of Water And Meowing

Diet Changes

If you have given your cat dry food, and she normally eats wet food, this could be a reason why is she drinking a lot of water and meowing. Dry food doesn’t provide your cat with water, causing her to seek more water than she normally does.

Seasons Change

Your cat is more likely to drink a lot of water during hot summer days. If she’s also meowing - this is her way of communicating with you and showing you she’s in some distress.  High temperatures can be difficult for felines, too.

There are several causes of dehydration in felines, such as dental problems, a dirty water bowl, territorial conflicts, etc. Lack of hydration causes your cat to seek a lot of water and meow a lot.

Medications Side Effects

If your cat has started using certain medications lately, they might cause increased thirst in her.

Underlying Health Issues

Unfortunately, increased thirst and meowing can be related to severe health problems in cats, such as:  - Urinary Tract Infections (UTI) - Kidney Issues - Diabetes - Hyperthyroidism

How Much Water Should A Cat Drink?
